Pratya Jankong

Pratya Jankong was born into a farmer family in rural Thailand. Shortly after graduating college with a degree in horticulture, he began teaching himself photography and joined Amarin Publishing as a staff photographer. In 2014 he moved to the United States to pursue an MFA.

Since moving to the US, Pratya has been working on personal projects centered on immigration, urban environments, global mobility, and family. As a person of color who grew up outside of the United States, he is interested in exploring diasporic Asian American identities, especially the lives of third culture children born to Asian American parents. He seeks to build a collaborative approach to a photographic practice that expands the definition of community.
